Saturday 2nd July 2011 - The Volunteer Arms, Inverkeithing

It's been a while since I did The "Vollies".  They have changed the agent they use, so I was interested to see if anything had changed.

Steven, the new manager, is lovely.  He never stopped the whole night, along with his other staff.  He tells me he used to manage a club, so is used to not stopping for breath for the night. It was certainly busy, and being such a wee pub, it was full to the "Gunholes".

The crowd were very nice, and seemed to enjoy my three sets, including a couple of Adele songs I was trying out live for the first time.

Unfortunately, we had a bit of a problem trying to get out of the pub when I finished, due to the amount of people packed in, and they had all had a fair bit of refreshment throughout the night, which meant that they were unwilling to move out of the way to let us out with the VERY HEAVY equipment.  As a result, we didn't get out of the pub til 12.40, which is unacceptable when you finish at 12...  I'm not sure if we'll be back while there is only one exit.  Can I suggest that maybe one of the windows that opens to the side of the building be "unbarred" or made to open to slot the gear through. Or maybe the pub could get it's own PA, or buy me a Bose Line Array system, which means just a couple of trips. The latter would be great, thanks....

If you're looking for somewhere to have a drink in Inverkeithing, though, give this place a chance.  The staff are very nice.

Saturday 28th February 2009- The Volunteer Arms, Inverkeithing

Well the last time I was at the "Vollies" I said I wouldn't be back.  That was 4 years ago, so I guess I meant it.

The pub has been taken over now, and I must admit I liked the place last night.  Good atmosphere, great staff, and a lovely Manager (Gordon).

The pub cleared well at closing time, and for once we were able to get out with the equipment easily.

Saturday 6th August 2005 - The Volunteer Arms, Inverkeithing

Had a last minute change of venue. It was highland games day, and this always busy pub was packed to the gun holes. The crowd were generally well under the influence and a bit unresponsive, but there were a few paying attention and they kept me going.

There's a good chance I won't be back here, if I am it will be as a favour to the agent.

I'm cutting out a few of the venues that are unwilling to pay for a quality act, I just wish that others would do the same.
