Quite right too! i think it's always a good idea to get the experience of working in a band, so I'll give it a go. I can always do solo too. xx

Better on my own, I choose the songs ,so I don't have to do the Blokey ones that strain my voice, I get more money and all the attention is on me, terrible arn't I

hi Hazy! it's always good to hear from other singers. i wonder which is best though - being in a band or singing solo? What do you think?

Hi, I am a singer in the Midlands, I have been performing on my own now for the past year having fronted many bands. Your website is excellent, very friendly with loads of good advice!

hey Sean! Ah the pizza shop - where the entertainers of the world unite for a munchy break before bed.

It was nice meeting you last night. I'm just listening to some of your MP3 tracks and I'm very impressed. Keep up the good work!. Shaun - EliteDJ.co.uk

Hey Pat! Thanks for your kind comments. Have you heard the version on Unchain My Heart on my site? Blues is definetly a way I want to go - i think I am more suited to it too.

lovley night at leith i would also ike you to sing more bluesy songs like unchain my heart or i'd rather go blind as your voice would be great for them

Thanks Sharon. I will try to learn mor Alf, but you have to come and babysit my three year old for the day!! lol. No seriously, I always listen to suggestions, and will try to add more.

regards joanie for the 16th time exellent as usual !!!! more alison moyet !!!!

I've changed this area to try to beat the robot spammers, just follow the rules and please forgive this hastle... I'm sure you don't want porn adverts etc.

I've had a few spam messages left so I will have to do some tests, I'll tidy the messages later so please still take the time to leave your comment

I reckon the CISWO in Glenrothes would like your act. I take it you need a bigger venue to get the full effect? Email me at mail@joanie.co.uk if you need to know more..

Thanks Joanie I am working on a site right now. So will let Al know when it's ready. Do you know of any clubs that might be interested in my act in your part of the country??? Thanks

Hi Mark! I am very grateful for your comments, as I have had so many negative ones over the last wee while. i like to think I am honest and down to earth, and I use this site to tell it 'like it is' - but just as far as I see it. As for my mic, it's a Sennheiser EW145 G2 Handheld Radio Mic System. I also use a dB in ear monitoring system. Can I tell you about a free weblink? Your site can be added to www.guidnightsoot.co.uk for nowt - nada. hee haw. If you don't have a site, you can get Al to make one up for you for a small fee. Anyway, give me a shout when you are next in the area, and I'll come along and see you. Mind and check my gigs, but I am rarely on the west coast. xxx

I'd just like to say I am an entertainer who was in the business for 10 years and retired 10 years ago. I am startng back up again in Cabaret. I must say I haven't found a better site for help and advice Joanie. I have listened to your mp3s and must say they are very good quality. You have a nice vocal style. I do A Rock n Roll show in the style of Elvis. It's not tacky and I don't wear any silly jumpsuit etc. I would love to come hear you live some place. I am based in Cumbernauld. Thank you for your site it's a mine of very helpful information. I too have just bought the Mackie SRM450s and the Mackie DFX6 desk. What mics do you use? I am part of a male female duo. Although my female partner isn't quite ready! We rehearse 3 hours a week minimum and YES it is hard work. Sorry to have read negative remarks on your site here. Not justified in any way whatsoever. Kind Regards Mark Gorman (MEMPHIS MARK)

Hello Sharon!!!!!!!! lol

Hi Gail, I think a gig is as good as we make it... you and the rest of the audience were out for a good night and because of this, we all enjoyed ourselves. I hope to get booked again, good pubs with good audiences seem to be getting fewer and fewer, hopefully Jock and Shelley will keep up the good work and keep hold of a good crowd.

Hi Joanie, I was 1 off the revelers in the Shank on sat night and we had a great time. It is the first time we have heard you but I dont think it will be the last. It maybe helped that I was also at Annes table when she won the £115 and we helped her celebrate. !!!!!!

Thank you John and Mags. It's nice to see something positive posted on my site after the last few days.

hi joanie,i ahve to say i am amazed at the comments made on your site recently.i would just like to make sure you know that there are a lot of people out there who think you are a top quality performer with a great personality to boot.i realise that we can't all have the same opinion, but,i can't believe some of the criticism you are receiving.keep up the good work and keep rockin'

I dont where some of you get of leaving all your comments. if you are NOT in the buisness then i dont think you will know how much hard work us as entertainers put into giving YOU the punters a good night,And if you are an entertainer then you should know better a good entertainer would never slag any other singer of unless they thought they were a THREAT to them that is !!i have done this job now for 20yrs and i first met joannie at a showcase and she is very nice person and always puts on a top class show..it really bugs me when people think can judge other humans without even getting know them as a person. i would like to see half of U TRY and DO our job. there is an old saying that goes ...the customer is always right ... But NOT in the pub trade as they are always pi...d, so come give us entertainers a break and just sit back relax and ENJOY !!!!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I agree completely with Jeans comments never have I heard a more arrogant person in all my life ,if you were as good as you think you are surely you would be world famous,my god what an ego!! It matches your singing bloody awful. Susan Smith.

Hi guys! I'd like to let you know about a new set of rules for posting on my site. Have a look at the "leave a message" page. Thanks to you all for posting so far, but further posts will be subject to the guidelines stated. I try to be as fair as I can, and will not delete anyone's post if I can help it. Cheers!

hi dave, and welcome to the 'we hate joanie club'. your criticism was not very constructive, i'm afraid. can you tell me a bit more about yourself, and give me your website address so I can have a listen? apologies for the lack of capitals. I am writing this on my pda on the way back from one of the best gigs I have had in a while. I think the people of lossiemouth would disagree with your comments, and I can only ask that you come and see me live. 'I hate joanie' t shirts are available at a good price.....

I came along to this site via the Party Sounds site because I have a band looking for a singer. I am currently doing the vocals and playing guitar, but want to concentrate on the latter. You may not like to hear this but as someone who works in the business, I am afraid to say that you are actually not a very good singer, average at best. So back to the drawing board for me then

Jean, I am replying to your comments because Joan has taken them personally. Firstly Joan's qualification is "level 8 - Voice as an Instrument" I know that not a lot of singers can say that and there are certainly not.. "many many more better singers ". Joan's music teachers described her voice as one that comes along "once every 20 years".. They are entitled to their opinion as are you.. I leave others to compare quality of vocal between the acts you mention and Joan..

These pages are for constructive critique... we still don't know where you saw Joan work... you may have taken offence to what was said about The Railway Club... I do not apologise for the comments, it was an difficult evening because of bad management by the agent... Joan is a pop act... In my opinion if the whole of that audience had tried to make the best out of the evening then we could have enjoyed ourselves... unfortunately there were a few who would not budge.. I felt very uneasy.. There were lots of good comments came from that night, and even some work offered. I prefer to listen to the dozen or so who were sitting as we left and who let Joanie know that... in their opinion... she was one of the top class acts they had seen in the club.

I put lots of effort into improving the music scene around Scotland.. see www.guidnightsoot.co.uk, all my work, I don't get paid for this, Joanie doesn't get paid for the hours she spends preparing tracks .. You mention "hinting for more money", there are lots of bad acts, who do this job for a hobby, don't put into it what we do, and keep the wages down. Joan's voice is educated and controlled and therefore can only be expected to hold out for two, or at a push three jobs in a week, The railways expectations were for the equivalent of one and a half of these gigs... too much for a solo act... again the agents fault.... not ours. This is Joan's business and we both take very seriously what you have said. we set up this site to advertise Joan's work and to help point out the pros and cons of working as a singer.. I think your comments will help with this and I thank you. If you weren't in the minority at the Railway Club then our comments were not aimed at you so don't take them to heart... If you were one of the minority... I don't apologise... I think you should!

If you wish to reply, please do so, I will only sensor bad language or abusive content... We welcome all comment, but prefer something constructive.  Thank you.

Ist of all I would like to point out I did not slag your singing off ,I simply stated a fact that there are many more talented singers out there ,it seems you have a problem accepting this fact. 2ndly you go on about "MY STANDARDS" I at no point said anything about "MY STANDARDS" if you took more time to actually read feedback and less time getting on your high horse you would have noticed this. as in your singing ability your reply comes across below average ,I will end on with a list of great singers in fife Elaine Green,Heather Dickson,Lynne from the Duo kickback you may wish to go see them and learn a thing or two . Jean.

I'm doing great still singing away with my wee tam trying to do just 2 gigs a week instead of 3 as i was ill last year but hey back on track again...I think last comment is quite funny it is obviously someone who likes des oconner as there type of music ha ha you go girl xxx

Hey Maggie! how r u? Good to hear from you. It's been so long. Give me a shout if you have any work lol...

Everyone is, of course, entitled to their opinion, Jean, but so am I. This site is all about seeing the world of singing and entertaining as I do, and perhaps giving a bit of insight and feedback into how good and bad it can be. I can always take constructive criticism, as I am a professional with many many years experience in the business. I can only surmise that you were one of the crowd at my last gig at a club, where, if you read the article about it, you will see that I think my act was not suited to the club and its members' expectations. This was not my fault, as I was sent by an agent. If you were not there, and I am wrong, I can only suggest that you cease looking at my website if you are offended, and cannot see that it is all just my opinion.

Slating my singing ability is not necessary to put across your point.

Maybe you should not come to another of my gigs if you find my singing is not up to your `standards`. Professionalism prevents me from saying more, and I am glad to say that I will not be stooping to insults to put my point across.

I am performing in Lossiemouth this weekend (the 16th June), so if you wish to come and gauge the audience's reaction to my `average` singing, then please feel free.

I would be interested to know where you heard me, Jean, so please let me know.  And who do you rate as a good singer around the clubs and pubs?  Maybe I can learn something!

NB Please note that I have not edited Jean's post in any way, as I am keen to give everyone their say. Does anyone else have an opinion? Please let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my site.

I am shocked and appalled reading some of the comments you have left ,if you arnt hinting for more money you are blatently slagging of the punters who are paying to see you . I think you should be grateful people are interested enough to come see you and lets face it there are many many more better singers than yourself !!!!

Hi Joanie not herd from you in ages hope you are still singing and all family well love Maggie (2*GETHER)

Hi guys! I am glad you enjoyed yourselves last night at the Firs. It's a different kind of gig for me, and I am always unsure of what kind of music to play in between sets. Please let me know if there is anything you'd like to hear when I come back!

Hi Joanie Just a short note to say how wee thoroughly enjoyed your singing last nite at the Firs in Polbeth. You where excellent! Can't wait till you are back on 28th July.

Hey Gerry! I have emailed you, but you can always meet me in person at one of my gigs. I have a few Fife ones coming up, so you needn't go far! And you can always just listen without introducing yourself, to make sure I can do the job! lol

hi joanie , i think you may have tried to reach me via another site. i am a keyboard/guitar player from buckhaven called gerry i do backing tracks and produce recordings and am pretty busy just now but would make time to help a fellow fifer any way i could with the music especially one fae methil, drop me an email at ******* (email address removed for security reasons)

hi Lesley! Good to hear from you. I was a bit worried about the site being down affecting the messages etc, but it seems to be fine. Al is more technically minded than me. As you can see, it seems I don't have any more gigs at the Minto for the moment, but I'm at the West End Bar in August. Hope to see you there! Remember to look back to make sure the gig has not changed before coming along.

hey Joanie am 1 off the barmaid in the "minti club" love ur site in we all thought u were great once again last night have to ask June when ur next on or lou in the westend bar and make sure I get night off to come along and boogie on down!

Hi George! Good to hear from you. I always appreciate advice, and will look into your suggestions. I find Vocalzones are good if you feel a bit wheezy during a gig, but I never rely on any one kind of remedy. Lots of water, fruit juice (particularly pineapple) and vitamin c is the way I go nowadays. I never want to take any painkilling throat pastilles though, cos I don't want to not feel any pain I may be causing. Hope that makes sense lol. Keep an eye on the site for my progress.

Hi Joanie! Hope your well, well apart from sore throat! Ive been keeping an eye on your site an glad your doing well! Im still extreemly busy! I read that you take vocalzones! I used to take them but they do more harm than good! There BAD!! lol try stepsils or oral difflam. Hope to see you soon! George & Team www.officialgeorgekennedy.co.uk

hi joanie,it's big john from the central. thanks for a great night and for the review you left on your site.i've pinned it up in the pub for all to see so that others realise what they are missing out on.at the risk of starting a mutual back-slapping exercise, i thought you were superb last night (especially when you get into your rock mode)look forward to seeing you and al on st pat's day.cheers the noo

a big hiya from the table of nutters at the weavers same nutters from the top o the toun (SHIMMY)!!!! great to see you on saturday great gig sorry it was quiet but we still enjoyed ourselves !!!!

Hey Bev! You must introduce yourself next time I am down! I know everyone's face, but I don't know all your names. Good to be coming back, I really enjoy my time in Hawick. If you could all just move a little closer to home that would be lovely. Cheers

Hi Joanie.Just came across your site.I work in the Mayfield Hawick.Nice to see your back with us in March.I'd say your one of our better singers. As is George ( i see he is a pal of yours so better say it lol ) mwah to you too George.Cya in March Joanie.

Hey Eck! E mail me please! I'd like to know what you have in mind before I give you a phone. Ta

Hi Joanie My Name Is Eck John Brown Asked Me To Contact You Saying You Would Like To Get Some Live Musicians Around You I Am Interested In Meeting With You For A Chat - Eck!

Its 007, I hope that everyone has a Very happy and prosperous new year. I look forward to re visiting the venues from the last couple of enjoyable years and seeing the people who make doing my job so worthwhile....

Another year nearly done. I thought i'd wish all readers a Merry Christmas, and also a very happy and hugely successful 07.....xx

hey George! Good to hear from you. I'm back at work (at last) and raring to go for the festive season! I can't really think of anywhere offhand that would be big enough for you to perform in. A talented guy like you should NOT be stuck in the corner of a pub lounge. It's maybe worth looking through my past gigs pages for Fife. The only one I can think of offhand is the CIWSO, which we have both done. Let me know how your quest gets on though!

hi Joanie!! hows are you keeping? Just wonder if you would know any suitable venues in Fife or anywhere i would go down well? Would you be able to help me? hope your all well George Kennedy & Team www.officialgeorgekennedy.co.uk

Hi joanie, well impressed with site and your voice, cant see how your having problems finding a band, they must be pretty deaf. i play guitar and sing myself (in the bedroom)thats as far as i have got but i wouldnt say am that good. Anyway let me know what you think......cheers jake.............................http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mD6Xnjfens

Thanks for the message, Tia. It's always good to see others work! lol. Give me a buzz anytime, and we can get together to talk about backing tracks etc. xx

Hi dear .. was great meeting you the other week there .... hope to catch up with or work with you sometime soon ...and thanks for the mention hope you enjoyed yourself. take care xx

hi Kenny! Good to hear from you. It seems so long since we were there, but it's only been a matter of weeks. Please be assured that I had a terrible throat infection that night, and my voice is usually much better! hope to see you again, and have fun in your various furry outfits (or spangly dresses lol). Glad I didn't leave any clothes behind!lol

(Ps) Love the photo above left...very Alison Moyet!

Thanks Lucy. I haven't been doing much karaoke lately and it was unusual for me to do 3 songs in one night when I do! Nice to hear you've visited my website, and I hope to see you next time I'm performing in the area. xxx

hi joanie, me and my friends heard you singing lastnight and we were blown away, hope to see you at one of your gigs in the near future.

Wow! I'm both amazed and pleased that my constant advertising of the site goes down so well! Thank you all for your comments, and I'd love to hear from you again. I'm always open to constructive ctriticism too, so amyone who would like to make any comments (no swearing now!!) is very welcome to do so. I have had a bit of a chest infection lately, so what you saw at the weekend was only two thirds of my voice. See you again!!

Hy Joan angie and me had a great night on saturday.fantastic !!.

Hello there Joanie,my husband and I were there on Saturday and you are a lovely singer and person also.Pretty cool.fab ,fab fab!!!.Angie&brent.XX.

Thanx for your comment, its nice to know that other acts are looking at the site. These comments are my personal opinion at the time of each gig, others may have different experiences at these venues. Please let us know what your act is called and where you're gigging, and if you have a site.. I cancelled Kelty gigs because of my experiences there... lifes too short

Joannie, Very interested to read a lot of your comments about some of the venues in Fife.As another self contained act- I share your thoughts in particular of Minto-Kelty. Why do people come out to these gigs if they are half interested in what we do.? Beats me Brave to comment on itonline and often check in Cheers

Where r U these days!? Been tryin to get in touch 4 a while for a blether of the 'wee' variety! Anyhoo... Speak to you later Anth xx

Hi George! Nice to hear from you, but not so great about your throat! It's a pain not being able to sing, but you can't force it, as you know. Plenty of rest and honey and lemon for you, methinks. I was off for about a month and a half, but hopefully you'll be back wowing audiences all over the uk soon. Anyone reading this should make it a priority to visit www.georgekennedy.co.uk

hi joanie... I was just buying myself a domain name and thought I'd check out who had the one I wanted... You can't half sing... great talent!

Sorry you felt upset. Anyone who needs to ask anything specific or comment on anything specific to which they require an answer should email me directly at mail@joanie.co.uk. Thanks

never meant to be abusive because we did think you put on agreat evening's entertainment ,thank you

Well "Pissed of at you now", I don't try to offend anyone, this is primaraly a comments area, it wasn't designed for p2p comunication. If you want a reply then please contact me by email or phone (its Al's number) As you can see from the entry for "aaa" half way down the page, I will edit swearing or other offensive messages. The entry by "aaa" was not their only one, I traced their isp and reported them for being abusive. I like to hear honest opinions, and thank anyone who takes the time to post theirs.

well you moan about not getting feedback and you ain't answered anybody recently ,

Hi joan i'v just been listening to your downloads they are great. av been talkin to al and he says its not to far a journey to night so thats not bad!

Fit likee, Thanks for a great nights entertainment at Lossie. We were all partied oot after Sat night so Sundays singer didnt see us at our worst i mean best. Absolutely loved your voice and after reading your playlist would def like to hear more rock.Re dancing c when you get to 31 plus 10 your nae fit to dance all night just 90% of it you need the last 10% to zig zag back to the tent. Nearly forgot, the magician was Garry Seagraves. Thanks again for a great time and keep rockin ya DIVA.

I was at the lossiemouth night with my missus and well we thought you were excellent and if you are ever up there again we will definately come and see you again ,thank you for a good night out take care bye!

Hi Elaine. As you may have noticed, we had a few technical problems that night, and I really ought to disguise my scowl a bit better! lol. It's nice to get positive feedback, and especially nice when a gig doesn't go too well. I hope to see you again, minus feedback and chest infections! Thanks again, love joanie Ps drop me an email if you have a website of your own that you want me to visit, or if you have any questions or suggestions.

Hi Joanie! My friends and I were at Kilmarnock Supporters Club on Sunday and really enjoyed your music, despite the feedback problems and you scowling at Al for the first two songs, you did a great job! Ha ha! Being a singer myself, I know how annoying this can be. The show must go on and you put on very a good one! We thought you were the best out the lot and hope to see you back. I was reading your comments about lack of feedback from audiences and how people do not show their appreciation. This happens to us too, definately no reflection on the performance! We applauded after every song for you! Everyone had a great afternoon and we hope you enjoyed it too. :-)

Thanks for your comments. It's always nice to know that people listen to what I say at gigs and that they've enjoyed what I do.

Margaret and Mum Mary from Kirkcaldy Seen you in The Old Cross Guns in Cowdenbeath on Saturday 16th July. Thought all the songs you sung were brilliant, so different from other acts choice of songs. We had a great night thanks to your brilliant voice. Hope to see you again. All the best for the future.

I have noticed that a lot of audiences are quite reluctant to clap at a gig. If anyone who has been to one of these gigs could shed some light on this subject, please do. I'd like to know it's not me!!

Hey Joanie!! Just listening to ya Walking In Memphis ya great! Just reminds us how we're missing ya all there, ope all ya gigs go great in future!! New website brill! Ope ickle Sam n Al ok! Miss ya x Mark n Suzanne

Hey Joanie, Just to say have a good gig 'up on the roof' tonight, i was gigging in Hawick last night and thursday night, you'll have a great time! Im in Falkirk tonight, i hope your all well, and break a leg tonight x www.georgekennedy.co.uk

Hi, I'm at Kirkcaldy quite often so please keep an eye on my home page, I try to keep it up to date... This weeks late entry was Saturday night at McAndrew's Pub (830 to 1130), it's a great venue with a good crowd who want to enjoy themselves. Tomorrow (mothers day) I'm in Kirkcaldy again at The Penny in the afternoon (3 - 6). Come along...

Hi Lee. I occasionally have gigs in the Glasgow area, but most of my dates are on the East Coast , from Dundee down to Edinburgh. I have played in Hamilton once or twice... Thanks for your feedback. You made my day!

Thanks Joan, it's always nice to have positive feedback. See you again soon, I hope!

Thanks Baz, for the heads up, but I already knew that the Tavern was shut for the time being. I mistakenly turned up for a gig to find a note on the door! Look out for me elsewhere though, if you're interested in seeing me again. x

Thanx Baz, I'm always open to suggestions so if any bands out there want a singer.... feel free to get in touch I have to apologize to the anon. poster who informed me that I am a "sh**e" singer. I welcome negative as well as positive comments but please refrain from swearing. The reason that the post is no longer on is through a technical fault when editing it. sorry

I'm always interested in seeing other acts and checking out their web pages. So feel free to leave a plug for your own gigs or pages.
